SHORTY

Shorty Gets Down, “Shorty,” was born and raised at Cowan Select Horses—Montana Division. He was started as a 2-year-old by Eric Branger, head trainer of CSH-MT. Shorty was trained and shown very successfully as a Reined Cowhorse in the Snaffle Bit futurities, derbies & bridle horse classes. Along with having a very successful Reined Cowhorse career, Eric also spent lots of time using Shorty for a wide variety of jobs on the ranch from the branding pen to pasture roping and started his team roping career. Shorty was sent to Cowan Select Horses—Oklahoma Division in January 2023 to continue with his team roping and seasoning with Robbie Boyce. He has been hauled to numerous ropings, and has turned into a high caliber head horse. Most recently, he was the 2023 Round 2 Non-pro Heading Champion & placed 4th in the average at the 2023 ARHFA in Fort Worth. Shorty is also excelling on the heel side. He is truly a tried and tested all-around horse. Shorty stands 15 hands and has great bone and confirmation to him. He is easy to haul, shoe, clip & gets along when turned out with large groups of horses. We feel Shorty is best suited for a number 5 or higher roper, and an experienced rider.
