Jailbird

WR Cowboybehindbars fondly known as “Jailbird” is a 7-year-old brown gelding. He was trained for the barrels by Lisa Warfield of Helena Montana. He ran at futurities his 5-year-old year. I’m not much for keeping track of his records as it wasn’t really my intention to sell him but after having my daughter I’ve significantly reduced my herd. Jailbird has all the speed and talent and is now ready to find his person. For general riding in the arena or on the trails he has been ridden by an intermediate level little girl, but he needs an experienced rider for barrel racing. He’s not to the point where you just take him and run him, he does need someone with experience to tune on him during the week. He is very fast, therefore needs an experienced rider. He’s between a push style and free runner. He has all the speed but his jockey needs to be able to ride him all the way into his corners and stay with him around and leaving the turn as he is very strong. He is in shape and ready to go, but due to the extreme weather Montana has had all winter, he has not been ran recently. Winter hit hard end of October and has not let up. It was always my plan to send Jailbird to a roping trainer to get him started in heading, heeling and breakaway, but that hasn’t happened yet. I think he would make a good rope or bulldogging horse, as he will not get outran. Jailbird has all the potential to be a phenomenal rope horse as well as be a 1D barrel horse with the right rider. He has ran in the 1D multiple times with mistakes. He ran all last summer at the Big Sky open rodeos and finished 3rd for year-end.
